# Welcome to Vanward

Any organization that provides certifications can use Vanward to manage the requirements for those certifications, and provide on-chain verification that someone (a "professional") holds that certification. 

These could be technical certifications or licenses that require continuing education.


# Professionals

**Professionals** are anyone seeking a certification. 

A professional will receive a certification once they have men all the requirements. They can hold more than one certification at any time.

A profesional can be tracked by their wallet address or by an external ID. This allows an off-chain system to manage their information, but still be able to link to their on-chain certifications. 


# Certifications

Certifications are most often awarded by industry organizations and are based on assessments of skills and knowledge. Licenses may be managed by local government agencies. 

A certification can have an external ID for linking to off-chain data. 

Certifications have an expiration date, which allows for requiring professionals to renew their certifications. 

A certification will have defined requirements (courses). Each course is made up of a **Module** (subject) and **Credits** (hours). Once the professional has met all the requirements they will receive that certification. 


# Educators

Educators provide the educational requirements required to earn a certification. 

The admin will add **Educators** and each educator can add courses related to a certification. 

It is also the responsibility of the educator to mark a course as complete for a professional


# Backend

Vanward is a dApp built on the Solana blockchain using Anchor. 


# Frontend

The UI for Vanward is a NextJS app built with React.
